July 2001 Institute Update

Greetings

Now that summer has finally arrived, at least in some parts of our continent, we hope that all of you are remembering to play it safe. Summer is the prime time season for activity related injuries. Unfortunately since last summer, there were 21 million school days missed by students secondary to musculoskeletal injuries. Unfortunately, the vast majority of missed days were related to sports related injuries. All of us, prior to activities, need to institute a comprehensive warm up and stretching program. In addition, at the conclusion of activities a cool down period should be utilized. All of us at the Institute hope that all of you are having a safe and enjoyable summer season!
